Harmanpreet became the first Indian cricketer to play 100 T20Is 9th October, 2019 - Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian cricketer to play 100 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Kaur achieved the milestone before MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, who has played 98 T20Is for India. She played her 100th T20I against South Africa in Surat, Gujarat on 4 October.

About Harmanpreet Kaur: She was born on 8 March 1989. In June 2009, the all-rounder made her debut against England in Taunton. Kaur has taken 27 wickets and scored 2,003 runs at an average of 28.61 in T20Is so far. In 2017, she was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for Cricket by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In 2018 November, she became the first woman for India to score a century in a Women's T20I match.

Roger Binny elected KSCA president

Roger Binny elected KSCA president 8th October, 2019 - Former India cricketer Roger Binny and his team swept the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) election. It was outgoing KSCA supremo Brijesh Patel swept the polls and he thus retains control of the association. BCCI politics is known to be a close ally of former BCCI president N Srinivasan. Roger Binny elected as the president while J Abhiram became the vice-president. Santosh Menon and Shavir Tarapore were elected as secretary and joint secretary, Vinay Mruthyunjaya, who was elected Treasurer. He defeated Captain MM Harish, while Abhiram won against former journalist Joseph Hoover. Santosh Menon and Mruthyunjaya defeated Raghuram and BN Madhukar respectively. Tarapore won against Preet Hegde. There were 1,066 voters. It was a landslide victory for Binny, Mruthyunjaya.

Maj Khan won a Silver at the 53rd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship

8th October, 2019 - Maj Abdul Quadir Khan of the Corps of Signals won a Silver Medal at the 53rd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship held at Batam, Indonesia. The event was held from 27th September - 03rd October 2019. Maj Abdul Quadir Khan: Maj Khan was commissioned into Body Building in June 2014. In July 2019, he participated in the Indian Body Building Federation (IBBF) selection trials held at Khammam, Telangana. He got selected to represent India. He brought glory to the Indian Army and Corps of Signals.

Record score: Alyssa Healy scored an unbeaten 148 runs off just 61 balls against Sri Lanka in the third and the final Twenty20 International (T20I) held at the North Sydney Oval, Australia. In just 46 balls she reached the three-figure mark. It made her the fastest Australian and the second-fastest in history to complete a century. Healy's previous best score in T20Is was 90 which she scored against India in 2012.

World Athletics Championships India finish 7th in 4x400m mixed relay final USA win gold 30th September, 2019 - The Indian 4x400m mixed relay team finished seventh in the final race of the World Championships. The team of Muhammed Anas, VK Vismaya, Jisna Mathew and Tom Nirmal Noah clocked 3 minute 15.77 seconds to finish seventh in the field of eight countries on Sunday. It is slower than the 3:15.71 clocked by the Indian team while winning gold in the Asian Games last year. The thord leg Jisna collided with a second leg runner of another country after collecting the baton from Vismaya. Noah recovered a bit but India ended at seventh in the end, ahead of Brazil. United States took the gold in world record timing of 3:09.34 in the event which was making debut in the championships. Jamaica (3:11.78) and Bahrain (3:11.82) secured the silver and bronze respectively. The Indian team finished third in its heat and seventh overall on Saturday with a timing of 3:16.14 to qualify for the finals, which had ensured a Tokyo Olympics berth for the country.

Parupalli Kashyap storms into semi-finals of Korea Open 30th September, 2019 - Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap progressed to the men's singles semi-finals of the Korea Open Badminton World Tour Super 500 Tournament with a straight-game win over former world no 2 Denmark's Jan O Jorgensen in the quarterfinal match played in Incheon. He is 33-year-old from Hyderabad, who is the lone Indian left in the fray, outsmarted Jorgensen 24-22, 21-8 in 37 minutes to make it to his second semifinal of the season. The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold-medalist will now face world No 1 and two-time world champion Kento Momota of Japan tomorrow. A former World No 6, Kashyap, who was promoted from the qualifying round, had last played Jorgensen five years ago at the Denmark Open. The Indian entered the match with a 2-4 record against Jorgensen, a 2015 World Championship bronze medalist.

It is a triathlon from England to France which is considered to be one of the toughest endurance competitions in the world. He is the 44th person in the world to have completed this triathlon. He is also the first Asian person to complete this triathlon in solo capacity. He also broken the record for the shortest time taken to complete the Enduroman Arch to Arc triathlon. He completed the triathlon involving running, swimming and cycling. The time duration is around in 50 hours and 24 minutes. The previous record for this triathlon was 52 hours and 30 minutes. It is held by Julien Deneyer of Belgium. The triathlon starts with a 140 km run from London’s Marble Arch to Dover on the Kent coast, then a cross-Channel swim (shortest distance 33.8 km) to the French coast, and finishes with a 289.7 km bike ride from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This is the longest point to point triathlon in the world. Only 44 persons have completed it so far. It is truly the toughest and most brutal triathlon in the world.

Worlds highest marathon was held in Ladakh

Worlds highest marathon was held in Ladakh 12th September, 2019 - The 8th edition of Ladakh Marathon was held in Leh town, Jammu Kashmir. More than 6,000 runners from different parts of India and 25 foreign countries participated in the marathon. It was sponsored by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). The full marathons were jointly flagged off by the Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Leh Gyal Phunchok Wangyal and Additional District Development Commissioner Mozes Kunzang. The half marathon was flagged off by Dilbag Singh, J&K Director General of Police. The 7-km-long Run for Fun was flagged off by Lt Genl YK Joshi, GoC of 14 Corp of the Army.

Highest marathon: All four categories marathon are held at over 11, 000 feet above the mean sea level. This marathon is known as the highest marathon in the world. The 4 categories of Ladakh Marathon are 72-km Ultra Khardungla Challenge, 42-km full and 21-km half marathon and 7-km long Run for Fun.

Ladakh Marathon: Ladakh Marathon is held in Leh, J&K. It was first held in 2012. The 7th edition of the Ladakh Marathon was held in 2018. The 9th edition is to be held in 2020. It will be a qualifying race for the Abbot World Marathon Majors. The marathon has got international recognization. The marathon was held with an aim to foster the national spirit and to encourage sport in Ladakh.

Qatar unveils 2022 FIFA World Cup logo round the globe 6th September, 2019 - Qatar unveiled the 2022 FIFA World Cup logo. It will hosted by the Gulf emirate displaying it in public spaces in Doha and cities around the world. The design is a stylised Arabic white unisex shawl with maroon patterning. It displayed in a figure-of-eight symbolising infinity while creating a heart shape above the words. The logo is very elegant and showing local culture with the burgundy colour of the Qatari flag, Algerian hospitality worker Mourad Bencheikh. The 2022 event will be held in November and December to avoid the scorching Gulf summer.It is designed by late British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid and located in a coastal town south of Doha is estimated to have cost around $575 million. Qatar is building or refurbishing for 2022, Khalifa International already open and will host this year's World Athletics Championships.
