V K Vismaya won gold in womens 400m held at MJS athletics Czech Republic

30th August, 2019 - Indian sprinter
V K Vismaya won a best timing of 52.12s and won the gold medal in the women's 400m run at the International Athletic Meeting Josef Seckr
Memorial (MJS) in Brno, Czech Republic. The 22-year-old Indian won the yellow metal, while compatriots Poovamma Machettira and Subha Venkatesan finished second and third with
timings of 53.47s and Sudha 53.67s respectively. Vismaya scored a personal best of 52.48 at Nove Mesto and Metuj (CZE) along with the quartermilers in Europe. Hima Das recently
won six gold medals in European races.

Lt Gen Puri became first serving first serving Lt Gen to complete 1,200 km Paris Brest Paris circuit

29th August, 2019 - Lieutenant General
Anil Puri completed France's oldest cycling event, 1,200km Paris-Brest-Paris circuit. He became the first serving Lieutenant General-rank
officer of the Indian Army. Lt Gen Puri, the 56-year-old officer completed the event by cycling non-stop for 90 hours. 367 participants represented India. Around 80 successfully
completed the trek. Six army personnel secured berths at the event for having completed at least one 1,000-km non-stop cycling event during their respective careers. 1,200- km
Paris-Brest-Paris circuit: Rambouillet hosted the 1,200- km Paris-Brest-Paris circuit 2019 event. The event was started in 1931. Over 31,125 riders have
managed to complete Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur since then.

PV Sindhu won Gold at the 2019 BWF World Championships

26th August, 2019 - Indian badminton and World number five
PV Sindhu won gold at the BWF World Championships 2019. She became the first-ever Indian
badminton player to win a gold medal at the event. PV Sindhu defeated world number four Nozomi Okuhara of Japan and secured 21-7, 21-7. This is her fifth
medal at the world championships. With this, she has become only the fourth singles player ever to have a full set of world championship medals. In the
previous editions of the World Championships, she secured:
- Bronze in 2013
- Bronze in 2014
- Silver in 2017
- Silver in 2018
- Gold in 2019
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships was held from 19 to 25 August in Basel, Switzerland. It is the 25th edition of the championship and 45 countries participated in the badminton tournament.

20th August, 2019 - ICC Indian skipper Virat Kohli retained the top spot in the Test batsmen's rankings.It is officially released by the
International Cricket Council in Dubai. Australia's Steve Smith occurred the second position. Smith overtook New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson to reach the
second spot. Smith is just nine points behind Kohli. Kohli has 922 points. Smith has 913 points. Australia's Pat Cummins retained the top spot. India are

Hima and Anas won gold in the Athleticky Mitink Reiter 2019
19th August, 2019 - Indian sprinters Hima Das and Mohammad Anas won gold at the Athleticky Mitink Reiter event in the Czech Republic. They won gold in the
women's and men's 300m category respectively. India's Nirmal Tom clinched bronze in men's 300m category. Muhammed Anas clocked 32.41 seconds to claim gold
in the event. India's Nirmal Tom clocked 33.03 seconds. This is her 6th gold medal this year 2019. On July 20 she clinched gold in her pet 400m
event at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic.

India clinched gold at Under- 12 Asian Tennis Team Championship 2019 in Kazakhstan
19th August, 2019 - India won gold at the Under 12 Asian Tennis Team championship. The event held in Kazakhstan. India defeated Chinese Taipei in the score
2-1 in the summit clash to win the title. The final was a tie of three matches. Indian Team won both the singles matches. The team comprised of Manas Dhamme,
Arnav Paprakar and Tamil Nadu's Pranav Rethin. Manas and Rethin won their singles matches.

India won historic Gold at 2019 Junior Track World Cycling Championship

18th August, 2019 - Indian men’s cyclist team won a gold medal at the World Junior Track Cycling Championships in Frankfurt, Germany. The team is comprised
of Esow Alben, Ronaldo Singh, James Singh, and Rohit Singh. It is India’s 1st-ever gold in a global cycling competition. Indian cyclist team defeated
Australia. The 44.681 seconds in the gold medal race. The Indian men’s junior team is ranked No. 2, behind Malaysia In individual Men’s Keirin Event at
World Junior Track Cycling Championships. In individual Men’s Keirin Event at World Junior Track Cycling Championships in Frankfurt, Esow Alben of India won
a bronze medal.
About Esow Alben:
- At present, Esow Alben, cycling star from Andaman and Nicobar Islands is top-ranked junior cyclist in the world in sprint and keirin event.

17th August, 2019 - Bajrang Punia awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2019. It is the highest country award in India. Bajrang Punia is set to be awarded
the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2019. The country's highest sporting honour. Punia will be rewarded with the award for his consistent showing in the field
of wrestling. Punia along with Vinesh Phogat was recommended by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) for the prestigious award.
His achievements:
- Punia stamped his authority in the Asian circuit.
- He won the Asian Wrestling Championships in Xi'an, China.
- Punia won the gold medal in the 65-kg freestyle wrestling event at the Asian Games held in Jakarta.
- He defeated Japanese wrestler Takatani Daichi 11-8.
- He won the gold medal in the same category at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
- He overcame Kane Charig of Wales by Technical Superiority to clinch the gold.

(AAA) Athletes Commission. This is the 2nd time she is appointed as member. P.T. Usha appointed a member of the Asian Athletics Association’s Athletes
Commission. She will be one of the six members of the AAA Athletes Commission, to be headed by 1992 Olympics gold medallist hammer thrower Andrey Abduvaliyev

Serena Williams Tops Forbes List Of Highest-Paid Sports Women

9th August, 2019 - US tennis superstar Serena Williams topped Forbes magazine's list of the highest-paid women in sports for the fourth straight year.
The business publication calculated that the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion earned $29.2 million in the 12-month period. Japan's Naomi Osaka burst
to international stardom with a stunning upset of Williams in the 2018 US Open final and went on to win the Australian Open in January became just the
fourth woman to earn more than $20 million in a year. Osaka's earnings is at $24.3 million, putting her second on a list dominated by tennis players. Former
Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber third on the list with earnings of $11.8 million followed by this year's Wimbledon champion Simona Halep. The highest
placed athlete from a different sport was US footballer Alex Morgan, who clocked in at 12th. Morgan earned $5.8 million, most of it are in endorsements.
Indian badminton star PV Sindhu and Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn were the other non-tennis players in the top 15.

8th August, 2019 - India's badminton star P.V. Sindhu is the only athlete from the country to be named among the world’s highest-paid female athletes by
Forbes, a list topped by tennis great Serena Willams. Sindhu is tied for 13th place in The Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2019 list released by Forbes.
She secured total earnings of $5.5 million, She became the first Indian to win the season-ending BWF World Tour finals in 2018. The list of the world’s
top 15 female athletes is topped by Williams. She earned total earnings of $29.2 million. The second spot is Naomi Osaka, she has a total earnings of
$24.3 million.

Steve Smith becomes 2nd fastest to score 25 Test centuries

7th August, 2019 - Steven Smith became the second-fastest batsman to register 25 centuries in the Test format. He achieved the feat during the second
innings of the first Ashes Test match against England. He recorded his 25th century in 119th innings and went past Indian skipper Virat Kohli who had
achieved the feat in 127 innings. Smith became the fifth Australian batsman to register centuries in both innings of Ashes Test. Former Indian cricketer
Sachin Tendulkar achieved the milestone in his 130th Test innings. Don Bradman's record of 25 centuries in 68 innings remains unbeaten. Former England skipper
Michael Vaughan lauded Smith the right-handed batsman is the best Test match. Australia managed to score 284 runs, owing to Smith's knock of 144 runs.
Australia, England scored 374 runs, gaining a lead of 90 runs. Smith became the second-fastest to register 24 centuries in the Test format. Smith recorded
his 24th century in 118th innings. Virat Kohli achieved the feat in 123 innings.

Fiona Kolbinger first woman to win 4,000km cycling race
7th August, 2019 - German cancer researcher Fiona Kolbinger won the mixed annual 4,000km(2,485 miles) cycling Transcontinental Race from Burgas in Bulgaria.
She becomes the first woman to win one of the world’s toughest cycling races. She took 10 days, 2 hours and 48 minutes to complete the challenge.
It includes about 40,000 metres (131,000ft) of climbing. Bulgaria Bulgaria is a Balkan nation with diverse terrain encompassing Black Sea coastline,
a mountainous interior, and rivers, including the Danube. A cultural melting pot with Greek, Slavic, Ottoman, and Persian influences, it has a rich
heritage of traditional dance, music, costumes, and crafts.

17th July, 2019 - Vijayveer Sidhu took his third gold medal of the ongoing ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. He combined with Rajkanwar Singh
Sandhu and Adarsh Singh to clinch the men's 25m pistol event. For Adarsh, it was his second gold of the competition. India maintained its top spot at
the medal standings after day three with 7 gold 7 Silver and 2 Bronze in a total of 16 medals. China is second with 5 Gold 3 Silver and 5 bronze.

16th July, 2019 - Indian athlete Mohammad Anas won gold in men’s 400m and Hima Das won gold in women’s 200m event at Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet at
Kladno in Czech Republic. Indians bagged 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Mohammad Anas: Anas won his own national record in men’s 400m race and clocked
with an effort of 45.21 seconds. Earlier, he set the national record as he clocked 45.24 seconds which he recorded in 2018. Anas finished nearly one second
ahead of silver winner Omelko Rafal (46.19) of Poland. Hima Das: Hima Das timed 23.43 seconds to win gold while she has personal best of 23.10 sec in 200m.

10th July, 2019 - Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The
appointment was announced and approved by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 8 July. He is currently the vice-president of India Cements.
Roles and Duties: Dravid will work closely with the National Head Coaches and Cricket Coaches for India Developmental teams which includes India A, India
Under 19, India Under 23 teams, in the identification of key training and development objectives. He will monitor progress against these objectives for the
developmental teams. The role expects him to provide necessary inputs on the same to the Senior Men’s and Women’s Head Coaches. Rahul Dravid is a
former Indian cricketer and captain of the india national team. He is colloquially known as Mr. Dependable, and often referred to as The Great
Wall. He is the current Overseas Batting Consultant for the Indian team, and also the Head Coach for the India under 19 and india A teams. He is known for
his sound batting technique. In his career, Dravid has scored nearly 25,000 runs in international cricket and is widely regarded as one of the greatest
batsmen in the history of cricket.
