Shane Lowry claimed the British Open 2019 at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland

23rd July, 2019 - Irishman Shane Lowry claimed the British Open 2019 at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland. It is his first major golfing title. He defeated Tommy Fleetwood and won the title. He is the second player from the country to claim the title. Earlier, the title was claimed by Padraig Harrington in 2007 and 2008. He won USD1,935,000 which takes him to No.1 on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.

Vijayveer wins his 3rd gold at Junior Shooting World Cup

17th July, 2019 - Vijayveer Sidhu took his third gold medal of the ongoing ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. He combined with Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Adarsh Singh to clinch the men's 25m pistol event. For Adarsh, it was his second gold of the competition. India maintained its top spot at the medal standings after day three with 7 gold 7 Silver and 2 Bronze in a total of 16 medals. China is second with 5 Gold 3 Silver and 5 bronze. The day's second medal came in the men's 10m Air Rifle with the trio of Hriday Hazarika, Yash Vardhan and Paarth Makhija winning the team silver with a combined score of 1877.4. It was just 0.4 less than the gold-winning Chinese team's score.

Indians bagged 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze at Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet at Kladno

16th July, 2019 - Indian athlete Mohammad Anas won gold in men’s 400m and Hima Das won gold in women’s 200m event at Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet at Kladno in Czech Republic. Indians bagged 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Mohammad Anas: Anas won his own national record in men’s 400m race and clocked with an effort of 45.21 seconds. Earlier, he set the national record as he clocked 45.24 seconds which he recorded in 2018. Anas finished nearly one second ahead of silver winner Omelko Rafal (46.19) of Poland. Hima Das: Hima Das timed 23.43 seconds to win gold while she has personal best of 23.10 sec in 200m. She won another gold in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland and one more at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland. This is Hima Das 3rd international triumph in within 2 weeks. Sharath Kamal voted IOC Sportsperson of the Year

16th July, 2019 - Sharath Kamal voted the Sportsperson of the Year in the annual Indian Oil Sports Conclave. The other nominees were cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, Grandmaster B Adhiban, hockey player Simranjeet Singh and table tennis player Manika Batra. Sharath Kamal is a professional table tennis player from Tamil Nadu, India. He was among the five nominees for whom votes were polled by over 60 elite sportspersons employed with the oil major.

Sunil Chhetri and Ashalata Devi conferred with top honours at AIFF Awards

11th July, 2019 - Sunil Chhetri, Indian men’s football team captain named the Men’s Footballer of the year 2019 at the All India Football Federation‘s (AIFF) Awards. He won the award for the third consecutive year. He is also the second-highest active international scorer after Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Dravid was appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru

10th July, 2019 - Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The appointment was announced and approved by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 8 July. He is currently the vice-president of India Cements. Roles and Duties: Dravid will work closely with the National Head Coaches and Cricket Coaches for India Developmental teams which includes India A, India Under 19, India Under 23 teams, in the identification of key training and development objectives. He will monitor progress against these objectives for the developmental teams. The role expects him to provide necessary inputs on the same to the Senior Men’s and Women’s Head Coaches. Rahul Dravid is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the india national team. He is colloquially known as Mr. Dependable, and often referred to as The Great Wall. Vinesh Phogat won Gold Medal in the 53 kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019

9th July, 2019 - India’s top wrestler Vinesh Phogat won her first gold medal after shifting to 53kg category and Divya Kakran claimed the top honours in the 68kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019 at Madrid, Spain. In the championship, India finished second with 130 points in team championship behind Russia which secured 165. Vinesh defeated Dutch rival Jessica Blaszka at the finals. She is one of India’s medal hopefuls at the 2020 Tokyo Games. She won gold medal at the Jakarta Asian Games. Vinesh had competed in Asian Championship and won bronze. Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in 10m women's air rifle at ISSF World Cup 2019

7th July, 2019 - Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in 10m women's air rifle event of the season's first junior ISSF World Cup 2019 on 4 July. She defeated Chinese Taipei's Lin Ying-Shin to win the title. She shot 249.8 in the women's final. Her 631.4 in the qualification was a new world record. China's Wang Zeru managed to win the bronze medal with a score of 228.4 in her first World Cup appearance. Elavenil Valarivan is a sport shooter from Cuddalore, Tamilnadu. She had also won a bronze medal at the FISU World Shooting Sport Championship 2019.

Hima Das won the women's 200m Gold in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland

5th July, 2019 - Star Indian sprinter Hima Das won the women's 200m gold in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland. She was clocked 23.65s on her way to the 200m gold. This was Hima's first competitive 200m race of the year 2019. Other winners: The national record holder shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor bagged a bronze with a best effort of 19.62m. VK Vismaya finished third with a personal best time of 23.75s in the race at Poznan Asian champion. Muhammed Anas, the 400m national record holder, secured third in the men's 200m race with a timing of 20.75 seconds. K S Jeevan won the men's 400m bronze in 47.25s.

15th June, 2019 - Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is the only Indian in the Forbes list of world's highest-paid athletes. He has been estimated with an annual earnings of $25 million. According to the report, his earnings are $21 million from endorsements and USD 4 million from salary and winnings for the last 12 months. Kholi, the Indian captain, has dropped 17 spots to be 100th in the rankings despite an increase of $1 million in endorsements. He was ranked 83rd in 2018. The list is topped by Barcelona and Argentina football superstar Lionel Messi. Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather has been dethroned by Messi as the sports world's highest earner, raking in $127 million via salary and endorsement deals. China claims 4 gold medals at 2019 ITTF World Tour Hong Kong Open

11th June, 2019 - China claimed four gold medals at 2019 ITTF World Tour Hong Kong Open, Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Hong Kong. The event was held from 6 June to 9 June. Chelsea clinched the UEFA Europa League 2019 Cup

30th May, 2019 - Chelsea clinched the UEFA Europa League 2019 Cup. It scored four goals in a devastating second-half display to beat Arsenal 4-1 on 29 May at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan. It gave Italian manager Maurizio Sarri a major trophy in his first season in charge and Chelsea a first European title since the 2013 Europa League. The triumph in Baku means Chelsea have won three European titles in seven years, with the Champions League triumph in 2012 followed by their first Europa League victory in 2013. By contrast, Arsenal have lost five of their six major European finals, with their only victory coming in the 1994 Cup Winners' Cup against Parma. Ivo Karlovic-Oldest Man to win a match at the French Open 2019 for 46 years

29th May, 2019 - Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic became the oldest man to win a match at the French Open 2019 for 46 years on 28 May. He beat Spain’s fellow veteran Feliciano Lopez in a first-round duel. Forty-year-old Ivo Karlovic became the oldest player to win a match at Roland Garros and defeated 37-year-old Feliciano Lopez to secure 7-6(4), 7-5, 6-7(7), 7-5 in three hours and six minutes to reach the second round at the clay-court Grand Slam for the sixth time. This was the oldest men’s match in combined age at Roland Garros during the Open Era, and the seventh-oldest match at a Grand Slam. Karlovic hit 35 aces and saved five of the six break points he faced to win his first match since Indian Wells. Previous records: Karlovic became the oldest man to win at Roland Garros since Torben Ulrich in 1973 at the age of 44. He is also the oldest male player to win a Grand Slam match since Ken Rosewall, also 44, did so at the 1978 Australian Open. The last player to contest a Grand Slam singles match having turned 40 was American Jimmy Connors at the U.S. Open in 1992.

Rahi Sarnobat clinched gold in the womens 25m pistol in 2019 ISSF World Cup

28th May, 2019 - Rahi Sarnobat clinched gold in the women’s 25m pistol at the season’s third International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Munich, Germany. By this win, she sealed an Olympic quota place for India in style. She secured 37 (out of 50 shots) in the final. This is India’s first Olympic quota spot in this event. Sarnobat, the Asian Games champion, was second in the final behind compatriot Bhaker. However, once she got the lead, she maintained it till the gold medal shot. Olena Kostevych of Ukraine won silver with 36 hits while Bulgaria’s Antoaneta Boneva won bronze with 26.

Saurabh Chaudhary won his 2nd Gold Medal in 10m Air Pistol event in 2019 ISSF Gold Cup

28th May, 2019 - India's 17-year-old shooter Saurabh Chaudhary broke his own junior and senior world record to win his second gold medal in 10m Air Pistol event in ISSF Gold Cup 2019. Saurabh won 10m Air Pistol event with 246.3 points, breaking his own senior record of 245 points and junior record of 245.5 points. This is Saurabh's second gold in the same event. Saurabh had booked a quota for 2020 Olympics during his maiden World Cup in February. Earlier, in February 2019 he had bagged gold during the ISSF World Cup in Delhi. The youngster shot 246.3 in the finals fetching gold while Russia's Chernousov Artem won silver with 243.8 and China's Pang Wei had to settle with bronze with a score of 220.7. Saurabh is the only Indian shooter to win the gold medal in ISSF World Championship, ISSF World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games, and Asian Air Gun Championship.

India's Mahesh Mangaonkar won Sekisui Open

27th May, 2019 - India's Mahesh Mangaonkar for the second time in the Sekisui Open in Kriens, Switzerland. Three years back he had won it the first time. Sekisui Open is a Challenger tour event of the Professional Squash Association (PSA), the world body which governs the sports. India bags 57 medals at India Open International tournament

27th May, 2019 - India bags a total of 57 medals including 12 Gold, 18 Silver and 27 Bronze at India Open International Boxing tournament in Guwahati. MC Mary Kom, Shiva Thapa, L Sarita Devi, and Naman Tanwar won gold in their respective finals. This was Mary’s second gold in the tournament, having won in 48 kg last year in the capital. 27th May, 2019 - India won third International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle and Pistol tournament in Munich, Germany. Apurvi Chandela won gold in the women's 10m Air Rifle competition after a closely-fought contest. She shot a score of 251 in the final to outshine Wang Luyao of China, who shot 250.8. This was Apurvi's second ISSF World Cup gold of the year followed by a world record score in New Delhi. After the first round of qualifying in the women's 25m Pistol, Asian Games champion Rahi Sarnobat stood in the second position with a score of 294.

ICC Rankings: Shakib becomes No.1 ranked ODI all-rounder ahead of World Cup

25th May, 2019 - Senior Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan jumped to the top of the latest MRF Tyres ICC ODI rankings for all-rounders, which doesn't feature a single Indian in the top-10 chart. He grabbed the top spot just ahead of the ODI World Cup after showcasing fine form during the tri-nation series in Ireland, which Bangladesh famously won to claim their first title in a multi-nation tournament. In the three matches of the series, Shakib totalled 140 runs, including two unbeaten half-centuries and also picked up two wickets. Shakib now has 359 points, 20 clear of Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, the previous holder of the top ranking, who has now slipped to No.2. Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi completes the top three, with 319 points.

20th May, 2019 - Sudirman Cup tournament will begin at the Guangxi Sports Center Gymnasium in Nanning, China. There are 12 elite teams that will take part in the tournament. Each group comprises of three teams, with the top two qualifyings for the quarterfinals.

Rafael Nadal claimed the Italian Open 2019 Title

20th May, 2019 - Rafael Nadal has won a record 34th ATP Masters 1000 title by defeating Novak Djokovic in the Italian Open final 2019. This is his ninth Rome title. Nadal dominated in a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 win broke a tie with his longtime rival Djokovic. For his victory, Nadal received 1,000 ATP Ranking points and earned ₹7.5 crore. Djokovic produced an error-strewn performance in his 54th meeting with Nadal. After three semi-final defeats in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid, Nadal has returned to his best form ahead of Roland Garros and clinched his first title of the season.

Sana Mir Becomes Highest Wicket-Taking Spinner In ODI

13th May, 2019 - Pakistan off-spinner Sana Mir become the most successful women’s ODI spinner in history after she took her 147th wicket, highest ever by any spinner in One-day International (ODI) cricket. Currently, Mir is placed on the third position in the ICC’s ODI bowling ranking, which is topped by Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami.
