Introduction – XAT

XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) which is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur, for all aspiring candidates seeking admission to MBA/PGDM courses. Approximately, 90K+ candidates appear for XAT every year and the selected students are granted admission to nearly 600 B-Schools.
  • XAT 2023 will be conducted in online mode and the exam is scheduled on 5th January 2023. And Results will be declared on 16th January 2023
  • XAT 2023 will be conducted in over 49 cities in India

XAT Eligibility Criteria

The XAT Eligibility Criteria:

  1. There is no age limit. However, candidates who did graduation in 1980’s with a 2-year bachelor's degree are not eligible
  2. There are no minimum aggregate marks criteria for appearing in XAT 2023
  3. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent from a recognized authority in any discipline
  4. Those appearing in the final year examination of their graduation degree in June 2020 are also eligible to apply for the examination
  5. NRI and Foreign Candidates are also eligible to apply on the basis of the GMAT Scorecard (except Dubai and Kathmandu candidates)

XAT Syllabus

Although, there isn't a declared official xat syllabus, we are putting below the important topics as per the previous year's pattern:

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (QA & DI):
It includes 16 important topics having a weightage of 27 marks. The difficulty level of this section is always high. An accuracy of 70% is good as loss of a single mark to negative marking is making you lose in percentile.

Verbal & Logical Reasoning (VA & LR):
There are 8 important topics and the section can have moderate to high difficulty level. Last year, this section had a moderate difficulty level. About 26 questions are expected this year. Decision Making (DM):
Generally, 20-23 questions come from this section. The data is provided and answers are to be identified on the basis of the same. The data graphs or pie charts can become difficult to comprehend sometimes.

Marking Scheme Students have a choice of not attempting 8 questions. Beyond this, any un-attempted question will carry the negative mark of 0.05. The negative marks for unattempted questions shall be deducted proportionately across the three sections.

XAT Exam 2023: Exam Centers

XAT was conducted in 47 cities across India, last year. This year, it is expected to be conducted in around 49 cities.

The Xavier Aptitude Test seems difficult to crack because of its variable exam pattern.

XAT Colleges: 2023

  • XAT Score will be accepted by over 150 B-Schools across India, this year
  • There were 156 XAT Participating Institutes in total, last year. The number is expected to rise this year
  • The participating Institutes of XAT can be classified into two broad types: Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI) and non-XAMI. The number of XAMI was 11 and the non-XAMI was 145, last year

XAT 2023 Results

  • Results for XAT 2023 will be officially declared on 15th January 2023
  • XAT Scores will be valid for one year only. And XAT Score Card will contain the rank and marks obtained by candidates

XAT 2023 Cutoffs

  • XAT Cut off varies for different programs offered by different institutes. The cutoff for XAT would include the minimum percentile to be scored by each candidate in the exam. On the basis of XAT cut off, candidates will be shortlisted for further Group Discussion/ Personal Interview and Essay writing round
  • The expected minimum XAT Cut off for: HRM course should be 92.55%, Business Management should be 96% and General Management Program (GMP) should be 22 marks & above
  • A candidate’s performance in all selection rounds and his previous academic records, work experience, and overall profile will decide his selection
