Introduction - MAT

MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is a standardized national level entrance exam, which is held for admissions to MBA/PGDM programs. MAT Score is valid and accepted in over 600 B-schools and allied programmes in India. It is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) 4 times a year (in the months of Feb, May, Sep, and Dec)

Eligibility Criteria 2018-19

  • There is no age-limit and no restriction on the number of attempts for MAT Exam
  • Candidate should be a graduate in any discipline, irrespective of the subjects (Engineering, Medicine or Commerce) studied from any recognized university
  • Candidates will be required to clear the final year exam before starting their studies in a management school
  • It is not a mandate for a candidate to have prior work experience

  • The syllabus for MAT contains questions of graduation level and is designed to test a candidate's general aptitude
  • MAT Exam Syllabus is divided into 5 sections: Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and Indian & Global Environment

Exam Dates 2018-19

The exam is scheduled on 2nd September, 2018 for Paper Based Test (PBT) and 15th September, 2018 for PBT - Phase 2 and Computer Based Test (CBT)

Exam Pattern: MAT 2018-19

  • No change is reported in MAT Exam Pattern for December session. There will be 200 objective questions that must be completed in 2.5 hours
  • Each section (Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and Indian & Global Environment) will have 40 MCQ questions

Paper Analysis 2017 (September)

  • In general, MAT paper was of moderate difficulty level and an attempt of 110 to 125 questions is a good attempt
  • Data Analysis & Sufficiency section was a bit tricky and a few questions in Indian & Global Environment section turned trickier and time-consuming

MAT exam is held in 50+ cities for Paper Based Test (PBT) as well as Computer Based Test (CBT) across the country.

Results 2018-19

Results will be published and released by AIMA (official website) on 21st September, 2018.

CutOffs 2018-19

  • For Top B-schools, the cutoff is expected to touch 95+ percentile
  • All candidates securing the minimum required cutoff will proceed towards the pre-admission rounds Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) of the participating B-Schools
