TET Exam – Important Dates

Events Dates
UPTET Notification 2024 UPTET Notification 2024 will be released soon on the official website. Recently, Uttar Pradesh CM has announced that the UPTET exam conduction authority will be changed for the next exam session. The new exam authority will be the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Commission. However, the official announcement and press release are yet to be done.
AP TET Notification 2024 AP TET 2024 notification will be released soon.
Bihar STET 2024 The BSEB will soon announce the Bihar STET 2024 exam date.
MAHA TET 2024 The notification for MAHA TET is still awaited.
Assam TET The Assam Education Minister announced that no Assam TET will be conducted for 2 years in Assam.




  • TET Exam is conducted in two-level namely paper 1 and paper 2
  • Paper – 1 (Primary Level) for those candidates who want to become a teacher in primary school – PRT (1st to 5th class) and
  • Paper – 2 (Upper Primary Level) for those candidates who want to become the teacher in Junior school (5th to 8th class)
  • Note: If a candidate wants to apply from Class 1 to 8 then, he / she will have to qualify both the papers
  • If you wish to become a government teacher then you need to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exam as it has become a minimum eligibility criterion for the same. Almost every state and central government conduct their TET exam every year. Even some states conduct the TET exam twice in a year while in some states the TET exam is conducted once in two or three years depending on the vacancies they have
  • Various states conduct their own Teacher Eligibility Test and hence called by their state names like Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is known as UPTET exam, in Kerela, it's known as K-TET, in Tamil Nadu its TNTET etc. All these are state-level TET exams
  • The test conducted by CBSE on all-India basis is known as Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The CTET is valid for Central Government schools like KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc. and schools under the administrative control of Union Territories of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi
  • A State Government can also consider the CTET, if it decides not to conduct the State TET
  • National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE) is the governing body for TET exams and all rules/guidelines like eligibility, the syllabus is set by NCTE. As per the NCTE, state Govt should conduct a TET at least once every year
  • Minimum 60% marks are required to qualify the TET and the TET qualifying certificate is valid for seven years for appointment in schools
  • There is no restriction for appearing for the TET exams, you can take the TET for improving your scores every year

Teachers Eligibility Test – Eligibility Criteria (NCTE rules for upper primary teacher recruitment)

UPTET Exam / SUPER TET / TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test) Exam Eligibility Criteria for Paper – 1

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). Or,
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. Or,
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). Or,
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*. Or,
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

UPTET Exam / TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test) Exam Eligibility Criteria for Paper – 2

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). Or,
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). Or,
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. Or,
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). Or,
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4 year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed. Or,
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year B.Ed. (Special Education)*
